Lillian Mottern is a writer from the Eastside of Los Angeles now based in New York City.

Her plays have been performed and workshopped in New York, Los Angeles, and London. She was a semi-finalist for the Eugene O’Neill Theater’s 2025 National Playwrights Conference.

Her short stories and essays have been published in The Big One, Waif, Dream Boy Book Club, Currant Jam, Spectra, and Notch, and she co-edits the literary magazine Verdict Mag.

Her interests include American aesthetics / myths, the internet, zany existentialism, and urban theory.

She has her MFA from Columbia University.
